After a riotously good time, we have closed ...John Blade, Super-Spy. We sold out 5/7 shows, and sold over 90% of our seats overall. Reviews called the show "...a smart, knowing, affectionate parody of action movies" and praised the company for its joyful performance of smartly-written material. I could not be prouder of this production. Keep an eye out for other Live Action Theatre shows; they do an amazing job of working combat into the stories, rather than sacrificing story on the altar of "dude, sweet fights!" It's been an honor to work with them.
Starting this month, I move to DC to teach stage combat at a large summer middle- and high-school program, and to rehearse and perform in the DC Fringe Festival. I'm incredibly proud of this production; written by local playwright Kyle Encinas, The Continuing Adventures of John Blade, Super-Spy is a hilarious tale full of nerdy jokes and lots and lots of combat. A new local company, Live Action Theatre, is debuting with this piece, and I'm really looking forward to getting it on its feet. Keep an eye out for us!
